The Midwestern Goodness Blog has not been regularly updated since 2006. For more about the company and people behind the MG! blog, click here to go to our company site.
We hope you enjoy some of the great content that initially started us on our path to our current business model.
This site is going to continue to be up and from looking at our traffic quite a number of people are still visiting or are just finding out about us. We’re considering coming back Spring 07 (late Feb. - March) but it’s still up in the air. Until then, enjoy the tons of video, interviews, and pics that we compiled 05-06.
Transworld Business highlights the Twin Cities best skate shops. TWSBiz is the top resource spot for all of you future boutique/skate/streetwear cats out there.
Evening wear? Okay, so it’s not really the MWG reader but for all of the entrepreneurial types & Chi-town fashion types, it’s a good interview. Ann John talks with Sujata Gadzer.
Courtesy of Thrill Jockey…“Solstice” (mp3) from Pit er Pat’s album Pyramids. The Extra Golden track that we put up awhile ago got a lot of attention from our blog-ease fans. Find out more about their new release, Ok-Oyot System, here.

The problem with blogs is that sometimes they have to come to an end especially when you’re a kid out here trying to pay bills and make moves. Best wishes to our lil indie rock homie/hero, Bethanne, as she hangs up her keyboard.
Yeah, its the posts are lagging behind but all that means is that we just have more goodness to tell you about in each one…no filler.
November 4th comes the new Faesthetic. It features the work of midwest creative types we’ve covered like UPSO and NoPattern. Check the FA site to get more from kids like Mike Giant, Katy Horan, Product HK, and others.

This Fat Al thing is kind of crazy. Promoters bombing our email, tons of random comments left by high schoolers nationwide…it goes on and on. That’s the power of high schoolers.
Cincy’s Pase Rock of Five Deez is on tour in a city near you. Catch him in a Madison Square Garden near you.
It’s stories like this that are going to make the Real Detroit Weekly something special.
Just to let you all know, we’re moving to a different type of format. The posts will be less frequent and eventually we’ll move over to MidwesternGoodness.com and a much improved design & layout. NOTE: the site isn’t going anywhere.
We look forward to being an archive of all that is midwestern and good, and remain committed to keeping the site up. J.Bobo has moved on to working with Eighty81 LLC in Cleveland, Kareem is now with Abercrombie & Fitch, and Kenny has headed to back to school to complete his last couple of courses before graduation.
Great video above from Mobius Band. It’s called “The Loving Sounds of Static.” Enjoy it. We did. Also, we apologize for the lack of posts. Unfortunately, we have lives so…yeah.
Going back to our conversations on licensing with folks like John Hughes (Hefty) and Sam Valenti IV (Ghostly), Eliot Lipp’s “Flashlight” has just found some placement in one of those new GEICO Cavemen commercials. Link.
Kevin Beacham (DJ Nikoless) - Minneapolis
We actually completed this interview some time ago, but due to some scheduling issues we couldn’t secure everything that we needed. It’s a little outdated but it’s still of course midwestern goodness. We present to you a quite lengthy yet informative QnA session with Kevin Beacham (DJ Nikoless), dj extraordinaire, proud father, and product manager for indie hip-hop label, Rhymesayers. Enjoy!
We dug deep for this one. For all the hip-hop fans, we have a little video interview with the biggest underground rapper in the Midwest, Fat Al. We talked about Cleveland’s hip-hop culture, the power of high schools kids, and the wonder that is Fruity Loops. Plus for the real observers out there, we approached the Fat Al & Fruity Loops topic from a semi-sociological pov in an earlier post that you can read here.
And for those of you that might think it’s not so serious, check out the video for some words on the subject that is Fat Al & Dreamlife from probably the world’s best basketball player, Lebron James.
Thanks to the Dreamlife Staff (Rich & Duck), Atlantic Records, Lebron James, and Steph Floss.
